I've never liked these, as they don't show you how the bird really looks. Consider just one fact: Cotton was 14 cents a pound in 1860 and 4 cents a pound in 1898. Many thoughtful remarks from practitioners were quoted in this book. I am not able to read that well but I am able to grasp some of what is said in this book. On the whole I think it would be helpful for anyone, but someone new to the area or a new gardener might need a reference book (The Southern Living Garden Book is my favorite) to go with it.
